2003 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon

I must say that I'm glad I'm back on this blog after three weeks on hiatus. Unfortunately, my uncle passed away. And I've also been working on other writings.

I tasted the 2003 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon recently and I must say it was delicious. It started with a powerful nose of vanilla, tobacco and cedar. This brought me to a delight because I knew I was about to taste an amazing wine. This full-bodied Sonoma County delight brings 4 grape varietals and a great taste.

You will find dark berries, cedar, leather and spices in this rich Jordan. It's one of the most sold Jordans in the United States. And it's with elegance and a great finish that this wine makes its popularity.

Get that Filet Mignon, cheese and NY strip out and enjoy.

Etude Pinot Noir and Stags' Leap Cabernet

I usually don't drink too many Pinot Noirs. As a matter of fact, I think I hadn't drank a Pinot Noir since early in the year. Last week I did taste the Etude Pinot Noir 2005 from Carneros and I must say it was delicious. Its complexity and full aroma makes it pair well with some Colorado, or New Zealand, lamb chops. It's full of spices and, tastes of bitter cherry and pepper. Not only is it very lively and eccentric, it fills your mouth and mind with the intensity of a hearty Pinot Noir. What an amazing meal!

Oh, of course I couldn't post this without giving a short, yet exciting opinion on the Stags' Leap Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 from Napa Valley.
From its deep 'well drained loamy-volcanic soils' this amazing red will have you flourishing the great Napa valley in a matter of seconds.
Its balance and complexity make it rich and alive and once it enters your palate get ready for a ride full of stagnant turns.
Lots of spiciness, deep oak and leather.
Stupendous!

Some American Cabernets

I've tasted a few Cabernets before. In fact, a good amount to say I like most American Cabs. After tasting a 2002 Insignia today I fell in love. No, there wasn't someone with me. I must say that this luscious wine hits all the right points. From its nose to its body and taste this Joseph Phelps Insignia kept me thinking of my love for dry reds. Its delicious aroma full of spices and its oakiness took me on a trip to a far away part of California all while staying in Miami. It's a very elegant wine that finishes with strong tannins and a full palate of plums and tobacco.

I also got a chance to taste the 2005 Groth Cabernet. A delicious wine with a full body and a strong finish. It'll leave you craving for more due to its complex body. It will remind you of cassis and blackberries while engaging your mouth in a sea of full tasting. A true pleasure.

A great Italian Red

So, the other day I was talking to my friend. He likes to drink a lot of red wine. However, I didn't know he was so big on the Italian reds. He told me had tasted an '01 (Typo last time, for those who read it I apologize) Brunello from Castello Banfi and was delicious. Even though I've not tasted too many of the Brunello Super Tuscans, I decided to give this one a shot. I must say it was amazing and worth the price. Its rich tannins and full body gave it a complex stand with an endless palate. It definitely paired up well with my NY strip steak due to the intense marbling and flavor.
What an intense, and full-bodied day.

Some Whites

-Saint "M" Riesling from Germany. I must say that it paired up very well with my light seafood salad. It's a bit crisp but it contains enough flavor and mildness to make you continue your journey into the bottom of that glass. Its body was very light, almost see-through. Its aroma reminded me of peaches and light fruits while leaving its acidity at the end of its journey down my throat.

- Kendall Jackson Chardonnay from Sonoma in California- A true American classic. Its full tropical wild flavors made me picture myself in a Caribbean island eating a big, juicy lobster tail. Its aroma was very buttery. But it's that same butter which opens your appetite for an oily and buttery seafood dish such as lobster, crab, or even grilled shrimp. Definitely would like to open up later with my grilled prawn dinner finished off with extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil and tomatoes.

- Ponzi Pinot Gris, Willamette- From the Northwest of the U.S.A comes this med-full 100% Pinot Gris. Great with some pasta. Would love to pair it with a Farfalle and putanesca sauce finished with lump crab meat. Its aroma of pears, figs and finishing of apples makes it tasty, yet sweet enough for the average Monday night homemade dinner.

My first post (technically this is the second time around)

Well, thanks for taking your time to read this.
What I want to create here is a place where the sharing and interchange of ideas
about food and wine can be productive and enticing.
I know there are a lot of people out there who know more than I do about this very interesting topic. My congrats to you. If there's every any time you think I wrote something which is completely off, please bring it up to me. I like criticism. I believe that criticism makes people stronger. Others don't quite agree with that statement, but that's up to them to decipher what they stand for.
I decided to create this blog because I believe that tasty food, wine and spirits should be spoken about. Moreover, people should learn about it.
Now, I'm not saying I'm an expert. That I'm definitely not. I'm not a novice either. I think I'm a learner with up and coming ideas about this great topic.
O.K. Let's cut to the chase and stop the nonsense.

P.S. I've decided to change the name of my wine blog to this title. I think it's a bit
catchier. Thanks for reading.
