South Florida Weekend Wine Happenings!!!

The weekend has arrived, South Florida. Get your shoes and evening gear out but don't forget to pull out that bottle of wine.
But we must remember, as I tell most of you I meet out there, vino is an alcoholic beverage that is meant to release stress and open conversations. It's also a drink that brings new ideas to the table. And it is all possible, of course, due to the fact that it is a subjective topic.
iVinoMiami Suggestion: Drink what you like and makes you happy. Don't worry so much about points and scores because remember we're living in an era where the exchange of ideas is instant. So, go out there experience all sorts of wines and share it with your family, friends and colleagues. That's the reality of the new media world we are in.

Ft.Lauderdale Wine Fundraiser Today!

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend.
The summer is approaching us rapidly and the humidity is certainly settling in. However, as we approach these warmer days, we must remember that there are lots of delicious red wines that are moderately priced and quite refreshing. In other words, don't only think of summer as the season to drink white wine only.

And as I mentioned to you earlier this week, we must look at wine as something that is subjective and a drink that allows us to exchange ideas and opens new conversations. It is also a beverage associated with many charities and causes. So it brings me to my next point:
Hey, here's a great wine fundraiser going on today (All for a good cause):

Team Christine Wine Fundraiser
South Floridian Christine Anderson, 24, has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer and needs your help.
There will be a fundraiser going on today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the 2000 Marietta Drive in Ft. Lauderdale for her.
$15 donation charge at the door which will include wine-tasting and appetizers. They are asking for cash or check only.

This will be a multi-state event which will take place in tandem with events in Georgia and Boston.
There will also be wineglass decorating ($5 per glass) and a silent auction.

Hope many of you are able to assist with this cause.

Museum Of Discovery And Science Ft. Lauderdale 15th Annual Wine And Culinary Celebration This Friday!

There are often many wine events going on in the South Florida area that are unfortunately not talked about in the mainstream media, only to be told via the blogosphere and new media.
As we all know, South Florida is rich in diversity and culture and wine only assists to further our exchange of ideas and cultures.
We here at iVinoMiami strive to provide you the most accurate information on all the South Florida wine happenings and welcome all your thoughts, comments and suggestions.

And now, I'd like to tell you about the 15th Annual Wine and Culinary Celebration that will be taking place at the Museum of Discovery and Science Ft. Laurdedale Friday, April 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

It's going to feature over 30 of South Florida’s top restaurants and chefs as well as wines from wineries around the world. The event also features a silent auction and a complimentary wine glass for all attendees.

There will be many happenings Friday night including three chefs who will be giving cooking demonstrations on stage in the Museum lobby (Chef Paula DaSilva of 3030 Ocean, Chef Sean McDonald of ilios and Chef Johnny Vinczencz of Johnny V’s).

For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit The Museum Of Discovery And Science Ft. Lauderdale at www.mods.org or call 954.467.MODS (6637)

Boca Bacchanal March Fundraiser A Total Success!

Right from the time I entered the Mizner Park Ampitheatre (For those of you who don't know, it's located in Boca Raton) I encountered a sea of people, wine and food.
The Boca Bacchanal's Eighth annual Winefest & Auction held last month benefiting the Boca Raton Historical Society had over 1,600 attendees.
"The Grand Tasting" event on Sunday March 21st wrapped up the weekend's festivities and displayed lots of tasty vinos as well as delicious foods showcasing 27 local restaurants and over 140 wines.
It was part of a series of events held on the weekend of March 19th attracting "scores of top chefs and hundreds of prized vintners from the United States, Europe and South Africa and has been named by the Wine Spectator as one of America’s top 20 charities wine auctions."

For more information on this wonderful event, please visit www.bocabacchanal.com

South Florida Weekend Wine Happenings!!!

Hey, thanks for visiting our blog and website. We are the GO-TO Source for wine information in South Florida. It's thanks to you we do this.

We all know that the wine world keeps changing at a rapid pace. The emergence of technology lets us access wine information anywhere and at anytime we like.
Unfortunately, many folks are still abiding by rules and other factors that will become a thing of the past.
My suggestion to those who don't "get" new media and are reluctant to "get" it:
Adapt with the times.

And as I told you earlier this week, please know that this weekend is full of exciting wine events benefiting reputable, long-standing non-profits.
If you're in the Gables area, look no further than the Coral Gables Wine And Food Festival coming this Saturday April 10th at 7:30 p.m. This event is benefiting The American Lung Association in lung research, education and patient assistance programs and The International Bronchitis Center at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
For More Information go to http://bit.ly/bkYutB

If you're in the Miami Beach area, check out the "Merlots of The World" Wine Event benefiting the Arts For Learning Miami non-profit organization.
$10 donation per person with 100% of proceeds going to Arts For Learning Miami.
The event will be held this Saturday April 10th at 8 p.m. (sharp) at the SET nightclub on 320 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach.
Don't come alone: the concept of the event is tasting the grape varietal Merlot. Bring a team of 2-3 people as well as 3 bottles of Merlot (Doesn't have to be expensive) for this great cause which will feature a raffle at the end of the event for a two-night stay at The Hotel Riviera South Beach.
